Passion Week - Wednesday

Each day this week, we're looking at the day by day unfolding of the Passion Week. Today, the plot to take Jesus' life thickens.
"Here at the midpoint of the week, look back at all Jesus accomplished: He arrived prophetically and triumphantly then turned all that energy into defending the poor and reviving the broken rituals and empty symbolism of God's house. He came as a king, worked in the realm of the priest, and taught like the most impassioned prophet. God has arrived ... and ... they ... conspired ... to ... kill ... Him. Why? Money and Power can be cruel masters."

SUMMARY
Jesus continues teaching at the Temple, but the chief priests are conspiring to kill him. After Satan enters Judas, he approaches the Jewish leaders with the offer to betray Jesus for a price.
FOR REFLECTION
Read Matthew 26:6-16 … How tragic is the contrast Matthew makes between what Judas does and the previous events from verses 6 to 13! Before the week moves on too quickly, stop and pause and consider: this “wasteful” act depicts a heart that truly loves and is loved by God.
Jesus, we will follow you … many hated you and sought to oppose you. Rather than being afraid of what it costs to stay with you, we want to have courage and faith to follow and obey you to whatever end you lead us.
