Passion Week - Saturday

  • 2 min read

We'd love to see you Sunday at Trinity Church for our Worship Service at 10:30 am (or at our 8:30 am Sunrise Service, our 9:30 am breakfast, and even at our Egg Hunt after the service.)

Each day this week, we're looking at the day by day unfolding of the Passion Week. Today, a "Quiet Saturday" we reflect on the finished work of Jesus as His body rested in the grave.

"How many times have you thought about this day? Not the trauma of yesterday and not the triumph of tomorrow ... but about Saturday. If you're like me, not much. So maybe you'd benefit from this song by Andrew Peterson (and even this one too) to help carve out space in your imagination for the significance of His words, 'It is Finished.'"

SUMMARY

Jesus’ body has been laid in the tomb and the disciples are likely cowering in fear (as in John 20:19) ... but the main activity is from the religious leaders, who secure a guard for Jesus’ tomb.

FOR REFLECTION

Read Romans 6:5-11 … Jesus’ body lay in a cold dark grave, and His enemies appeared to have won – death seemed to have won the day.     Few things are as certain as the grave, and in Jesus’ very real death we also have this certainty as believers: we have just as certainly died to sin.

Jesus we are united to You … as certainly as we claim allegiance to You (Your teachings, example, and obedience), we are bound to Your death.     As such You have destroyed the grip sin had on us, and we thank You.
